Hey there guys! Just a quick update about my situation + promo for gofundme page! For real 2016 is really tryin to knock me out in the final minutes.
For starters, I got the time off work that I wanted! I’ve posted before that chronic fatigue+ major depression have been really kicking my ass lately, and my boss was supportive of me taking the time off. I’ve also found a doctor that specializes in my exact brand of shitty brain problems, has been all-around pleasant to work with, and is very confident that a treatment course will “give me my life back.”
The bad news is that my Leave of Absence from work is unpaid, and because of some drama with our family’s insurance provider, I’m having to pay for shit out-of-pocket for the mo.
And, just because this situation wasn’t awesome enough, I left a birthday party Friday night to a flat rear tire. I took my car in to get the rear tires replaced (no big, been planning to do that for a while anyway) only to have the shop put the wrong size tires on my car. Driving it home, and then back to the shop to have the mistake corrected, not only effectively destroyed my car, but now they refuse to do repairs or even refund me for the tires I purchased.
And of course, I found this all out the day I got approval to take my time off work, so now I’m kind of stuck with way more expenses than I was anticipating this month, and zero income.
There’s more details on my newly-created Gofundme, and if you donate you’ll be supporting: - My living expenses - My medical expenses - Possibly a cheap used car so I can get around when I need to and be able to return to work next month - Creative projects that you should be excited about if you’re a fan of my work
That’s right! Creative projects!
I’m using this time I’ve been given to power forward on exciting new ventures with my artwork. You may know that I attempted to launch a webcomic, Snakes and Ladders , about a year ago. The comic will be relaunched in January with a ton of extra goodies, fun stuff for Patreon supporters, and an actual managed 2x week update schedule, and there’s other fun stuff going on there that I want to announce formally and not as part of a gofundme post haha.
Additionally, I have a podcast project called Cryptid Spotted in development with my siblings. Further details to come about that, and we hope to soft-launch with a pilot episode within the coming weeks. Depending on its reception some donations may go toward purchasing software and equipment to make that a reality.
In grinding down my workload to a manageable level, I’m also hoping to be able to reopen commissions sometime in the near future. My ultimate goal is to be successfully self-employed, and while it seems a far-off goal right now your support means the world as I get my feet under me and push against this wall.
Thanks so much for reading, and if you can’t help right now, please share if you can.
